Director – Registration and Accreditation
Dr Christopher Mandizvidza is an experienced educationist and higher education quality assurance specialist serving as Director of Registration and Accreditation at ZIMCHE.
He provides strategic leadership in the regulation of higher education institutions and the accreditation of academic programmes across Zimbabwe’s higher education sector.
Academic Qualifications:
Dr Mandizvidza brings over 30 years of experience in education, including roles as teacher, Head of Department, School Head, and later Lecturer at the University of Zimbabwe.
During his academic career, he rose to Senior Lecturer and served in leadership roles such as Departmental Chairperson and University Proctor.
He is also an accomplished research consultant with extensive work in educational policy and institutional development, contributing significantly to strengthening higher education quality assurance in Zimbabwe.
Directorate Overview
The Registration and Accreditation Directorate is responsible for ensuring that institutions of higher education and their academic programmes meet national quality assurance standards required for degree awarding in Zimbabwe.
The Directorate plays a central role in safeguarding the credibility, integrity, and international recognition of Zimbabwe’s higher education qualifications.
Operating under the Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education Act (Chapter 25:27), the Directorate oversees institutional registration, programme accreditation, and evaluation of foreign qualifications.
Through these functions, the Directorate supports a harmonised, quality-assured higher education system aligned with national development priorities and global standards.

- Register and regulate higher education institutions operating in Zimbabwe.
- Accredit academic programmes offered by universities and degree-awarding institutions.
- Develop and review accreditation frameworks and quality assurance standards.
- Evaluate institutional capacity including governance, staffing, infrastructure, and resources.
- Monitor compliance with ZIMCHE regulations and standards.
- Assess equivalence of foreign qualifications obtained outside Zimbabwe.
- Support continuous improvement of higher education quality assurance systems.
