Audit and Assurance Unit (AAU) Profile - ZIMCHE

Welcome to the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Department of the Zimbabwe Council for Higher Education. Our goal is to ensure a digitally sound and enabled ZIMCHE, which also extends to its university partners. Safety, innovation, and efficiency in the use of the technologies are paramount.

The ICT Unit provides digital and technology related services to the ZIMCHE and the regulated institutions.

Mission

To strengthen the ZIMCHE's leadership in higher education by: Ensuring the ease of doing business of ZIMCHE and its clients through the use of ICTs

Vision

To become a trendsetter in the use of ICTs in the education quality assurance space in Zimbabwe and in the SADC.

Strategic Goal

To bolster ZIMCHE's institutional effectiveness by delivering comprehensive ICT services that reinforce strategic decision-making and operational efficiency. All of which should be data-driven.

The ICT unit intricately linked to ZIMCHE's broader strategic initiatives. Our work directly supports the Council’s objectives by identifying automated ways at the ZIMCHE and its regulated entities of becoming more efficient.

Key Objectives & Functions

The ICT unit intends to ensure both operational effectiveness and efficiency by the ZIMCHE and the higher education ecosystem. We are dedicated to the following core objectives:

  • A. Automation of the ZIMCHE functions

    • Qualifications Assessment Online: A seamless qualificaitons assessment portal that links both locally and regionally.
    • Online Program Accreditation: Interactive platform for the delivery of an online system for program accreditation.
  • B.Automation Advice for Universities

    • Infrastrcture: Minumum standards on the infrastructure at institutions.
    • Systems and services: Agreed standards on systems provided to the clients at universities.
  • C. Training and Upscaling

    • Internal training: Training of the ZIMCHE staff on envogue technologies.
    • External traning and information exchange: Foster a continued culture of training and information exchange with universities and other stakeholders.

ICTs are meant to make work done internally and externally seamless and efficient. The resources for these are people, equipment, systems, and processes.
