The new Zimbabwe Council For Higher Education (ZIMCHE) council members who were appointed recently held their first meeting on 10 August, 2017 at the ZIMCHE offices in Harare.
The 18 member Council set up in accordance with Section 7 of the ZIMCHE Act is chaired by Professor Ngwabi Mulunge Bhebe. The council met at a time when the higher and tertiary education system in Zimbabwe has started the process of transformation that is emphasising on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) initiatives.
ZIMCHE is a quality assurance agency whose overall function is quality assurance. Its functions can be subdivided into three categories as follows:
